CHAI-er Ed: Jewish Learning That Gets It
Let’s be real…Jewish education shouldn’t stop at B’nai Mitzvah. That’s when it should get even more meaningful.
Welcome to CHAI-er Ed, Temple Dor Dorim’s bold, next-gen program for 7th–12th graders. This isn’t textbook Judaism—it’s real talk, deep questions, and experiences that actually matter. Think identity, justice, Israel, Holocaust study, modern spirituality with content that’s relevant, challenging, and built to spark conversation. Plus, every session includes time to choose your own path with Chuggim (electives) like culinary creations, digital storytelling, debate, social impact design, and more. CHAI-er Ed is where Jewish learning levels up—flexible, engaging, and designed for you. Because Jewish life doesn’t end at 13. it’s just getting started.
10th Grade: “Now What?”: Confirmation of our Jewish Faith Today and for the Future
Step into 10th-grade Confirmation with Rabbi Zive—a powerful capstone experience where you’ll learn to think, question, and believe like a Jew. Building on past studies of medieval and modern thinkers, you’ll craft your own theology, exploring timeless texts and contemporary ideas. You’ll move from “So What?”—why your beliefs matter—to “Now What?”—how to apply them in real life, lead conversations, and shape your Jewish identity. The journey includes a trip to New York City with Rabbi Zive to explore the roots of American Jewry, and concludes with a student-led Shabbat Confirmation service, affirming your faith before the community.
Rappin’ with the Rabbi
Our 11th and 12th graders have confirmed their faith and finalized their formal youth education at TDD while our 10th graders are on their way! But, it shouldn’t end here. By the time students are in finishing High School, they’ve faced questions, doubters and even concerns of their own. Rabbi Zive wants to provide our Post-Confirmation (and current Confirmation) students with the opportunity to keep our teens engaged and connected as they navigate their Jewish lives. It’s a space to ask open questions,
discuss relevant issues, be challenged and have fun as they continue to be comfortable in our synagogue community. Students will have their own private dinner with Rabbi Zive as we talk about life!
