Komen Race for the Cure *

The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Series is the largest series of 5K runs/fitness walks in the world. The Miami/Ft. Lauderdale community has raised millions of dollars to fund the fight against breast cancer through the Komen Race for the Cure. Over 100,000 people have participated in the 5K walk and run, One Mile Fun Walk and Tot Run since the first Miami/Ft. Lauderdale Komen Race for the Cure in 1995.

The American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk is as unique and special as the stories that motivate our dedicated walkers, donors and volunteers. Each step taken is personal and each donation helps save lives. Making Strides walks are non-competitive and three to five miles in length.

Team leaders are the heart and soul of Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. Sign up online to start your team, then invite your friends to join it. When you sign up to join a Making Strides Against Breast Cancer team, you are committing to share your passion to save lives from breast cancer. Walk as an Individual
You may sign up as an individual, but you will not be alone. Individual walkers are part of our nationwide community of Making Strides participants. Making Strides will be here with you every step of the way as you ask friends and family to support your effort to save lives with a donation. Making Strides is more than a walk – it’s a fundraising event. The dollars raised through Making Strides help the American Cancer Society continue its work of helping people get well, stay well, find cures and fight back against breast cancer, and it can’t be done without your donations. Make a General Donation
Last year Making Strides raised $60 million to help people get well, stay well, find cures and fight back against breast cancer and it happened one $10, $25 and $50 donation at a time. Find an event and make a general donation.

I Care I Cure

The I Care I Cure Childhood Cancer Foundation supports the development of, and raises public awareness about cutting-edge targeted therapies for childhood cancer, so that the treatment of childhood cancer will be gentle and more tolerable.
Project or Activity: start a service club, create a I Care I Cure Mitzvah Project, do a teen service project, participate as a volunteer in the I Care I Cure 5K Run.

Gilda’s Club South Florida

Gilda’s Club South Florida is a free cancer support community for women, men, children, and teens with all types of cancer and their families and friends. They offer networking groups, lectures, workshops, specialized children’s and teen programs, and social events in a non-residential, non-medical, home-like setting. The clubhouse is located in a historic home in downtown Fort Lauderdale on the Tarpon River.
Project or Activity: Collect needed items on the clubhouse wishlist, donate goods/supplies and services, or volunteer (volunteers must be 17 or older and include special events, social events, fundraising events, clubhouse support, and outreach.) Financial donations are always welcome.

Think Pink Rocks *

Think Pink Rocks is a non-profit organization whose mission is to raise awareness about early detection of and genetic testing for breast cancer and to provide funding for screening, treatment and research.

Children Battling Cancer

Children Battling Cancer’s mission is to bridge the gap between the community and families battling childhood cancer by raising awareness within the community, while bringing practical help and permanent hope directly to the families of childhood cancer.
Project or Activity: Volunteer by helping fold brochures, pass out bags, make phone calls, coordinate events, and more. Financial donations are always appreciated.
